It is my pleasure to join the MLC. I hope you will enjoy your new life as a university student with this big family for the next four years. In the residential college, not only you will be learning knowledge from your chosen majors, you will also pick up life skills that will follow you for a lifetime. Before I joined the MLC, I have studied in the U.K for 13 years. After obtaining a Chemistry degree from the University of Manchester, I continued my studies in the University College London and graduated with a Ph.D. degree in Structural Biology. Before joining the University of Macau, I have worked as a Post-doctoral researcher and medical representative for GlaxoSmithKline. Besides work, I am a big fan of sports, especially badminton, tennis, surfing and skiing. I also enjoy travelling and cooking in my spare time. Lastly, I look forward to sharing my life experiences with you and see you all around the college.

I am a historian of modern China with special research interest in grassroot history which focuses on the everyday life of the ordinary people and their interaction with the local government. South China, especially the Pearl River Delta, is the primary area of my research.  I graduated from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong and worked as post-doctoral fellow at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Being a part of the collegiate system is a new but not an unfamiliar experience. For many years, I have been committed to enhancing student learning. I am looking forward to tea-time intellectual-stimulating and idea-provoking conversations with you—students and colleagues.  I also welcome every member of UM to come to me at G034 in W33 to share with me your thoughts and your experiences of college and university life.
