The 11th “Lingnan Culture” advanced seminar for Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau university students, co-organized by Jinan University, University of Macau, Guangzhou Guangdong Theatre and Hung Sin-nui Art Center, was held at Jinan University on December 17th to December 22nd, 2019. Dr. Ka Wai Fung, Resident Fellow from Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (MLC) and Bai Rushuang, Resident Tutor from Cheong Kun Lun College (CKLC) lead a group of 42 students from CKLC, MLC and Stanley Ho East Asia College to join this seminar.

The seminar was conducted in the format of lectures that were complement with hands on experience. Four cultural lectures included ‘Lingnan Scenic Spots’ by Professor Gan Yuen, ‘Lingnan Arts and Crafts’ by Professor Sun Enle, ‘Lingnan Cantonese Opera’ by Mr. Lian Xingcun, and ‘Lingnan Cultural Introduction’ by Professor Ye Nong.

The group visited the Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, the Archaeological Site Museum of Nanyue Palace and the Pearl River Night Tour to experience the magnificent and sophisticated buildings of Lingnan, the Nanfeng Kiln and Guang Embroidery Building to experience potteries making and Yue embroidery, the Hung Sin-nui Art Center to watch Cantonese opera and learn to sing Cantonese opera.
