On 25th November 2022, MLC was honoured to have invited Prof. He Chengzhou, Foreign member of Academia Europaea, Dean of the School of Arts and Director of the Institute of Global Humanities of Nanjing University, to deliver a lecture for MLC’s Grand Beauty Forum. Prof. He’s speech titled “The Beauty of Intercultural Theatre in China and Its Overseas Dissemination” was part of MLC’s aesthetic education. Prof. He introduced the three major paradigms of Chinese intercultural theatre, namely the crossover of theatres of different styles, adaptation of Western theatre and cross-cultural theatre for global audience. He also discussed a real-life example of Chinese intercultural theatre by applying the Chinese-British Kunqu A Shakespearean Handan Dream premiered in London in 2016. The lecture revealed how intercultural theatre allowed China to show her beauty and rich cultural history to the world. Following the lecture, Prof. He discussed with on-line participants the opportunities and challenges China faced in disseminating Chinese theatre abroad. Prof. He’s educational and inspiring lecture met MLC’s aim to enhance students’ ability to integrate knowledge in an artistic way. Students expressed their gratitude to have the opportunity to learn from Prof. He’s expertise and wisdom. The Grand Beauty Forum will continue to invite experts of arts to share their knowledge with fellow MLC teachers and students.
馬萬祺羅柏心書院於2022年11月25日榮幸地邀請到歐洲科學院外籍院士、南京大學藝術學院院長及全球人文研究院院長何成洲教授為大美講壇主講名為「中國跨文化戲劇之美與海外傳播」的講座。 何教授介紹了中國跨文化戲劇的三種不同範式，包括不同表演文化的交叉、改編西方戲劇的演出及全球化戲劇: 本土與世界的交融。何教授亦以2016年於英國倫敦首演的昆曲《莎士比亞式的邯鄲夢》為例探討了中國跨文化戲劇的實況。何教授在總結時表示跨文化戲劇讓世界更有效地了解中國的美和悠長的文化史。在講座後，何教授和線上參與者討論了華人在海外傳播中國戲劇時面對的機遇與挑戰。何教授這次極具啟發性的講座增強了院生從藝術上融匯知識的能力，而培養這些能力亦是馬萬祺羅柏心書院設立美學教育的目的。 學生表示非常感激有此機會學習到何教授的智慧和專長。大美講壇將會繼續邀請美術大師為書院師生分享他們的專業知識。
