Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College was founded in the fall of 2016. With a donation of MOP30,000,000 from Lo Pak Sam Memorial Limited to University of Macau Development Foundation (UMDF) in February 2015 to support the development of Residential Colleges, UM named the 9th Residential College after Mr. Ma Man Kei and Madam Lo Pak Sam in order to express deep gratitude and honor of their generous donation.
Mr. MA Man Kei (1919-2014), born in Nanhai, Guangdong Province, was an outstanding social activist, a famous patriot, and a prominent figure in Macau business community. Serving as the President of Macau Chamber of Commerce for life, Mr. MA was the Member of the Standing Committee of the Sixth and Seventh National People’s Congress (NPC) and Member of the Eighth NPC. He also served as the Member and Standing Committee of the Fifth and Sixth Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and Vice Chairman of the Eighth, Ninth, Tenth, and Eleventh CPPCC.
Madam LO Pak Sam (1922-2000), born in Panyu, Guangdong Province, was a well-known patriot and a social worker in women and children’s affairs. She was the Executive Member of All-China Women’s Federation and the President of the Women’s General Association of Macau. Enthusiastic about public welfare and caring about education, she was the main founder of the Women’s General Association of Macau and a number of educational institutions for children. Madam Lo made a significant contribution to improving women’s social and family status and developing children’s education in Macau.
Mr. MA and Madam LO married in 1943. After marriage, they worked together to pursue the patriotic cause of Macau and enthusiastically support the education of Macau. Dr. Ma had served as the Chairman of the University Council of University of East Asia, Macau (former University of Macau) and devoted a great deal to the University’s education.
In order to express the deep gratitude and honor their generous donation, the University of Macau also erected Ma Man Kei Lo Pak Sam bronze statue, which was made by famous sculptor-Professor Cao Chong En in 1991 and is stored in the lobby of MLC.
馬萬祺羅柏心書院成立於二零一六年秋季。羅柏心紀念有限公司於二零一五年二月向澳門大學發展基金會捐贈澳門元三千萬元以支持澳大住宿式書院的發展,同時澳門大學亦將第九所落成啟用的住宿式書院冠名為“馬萬祺羅柏心書院”以感謝及表彰該公司的慷慨捐贈。
馬萬祺先生(一九一九—二零一四),廣東南海人,傑出社會活動家,澳門著名愛國人士及知名工商界領袖。馬萬祺先生為澳門中華總商會永遠會長;歷任第六屆、第七屆全國人民代表大會常委,第八屆全國人民代表大會代表;中國人民政治協商會議第五屆、第六屆委員、常委,第八屆、第九屆、第十屆、第十一屆副主席。
羅柏心女士(一九二二—二零零零),廣東番禺人,著名愛國主義者和婦女兒童事業發展工作者。歷任中華全國婦女聯合會執行委員、澳門婦女聯合會會長。羅柏心女士熱心社會公益,關心教育事業,為澳門婦女聯合會主要創立人,並在澳門開辦多所兒童教育機構,為提高澳門婦女社會和家庭地位以及發展兒童教育事業作出了重要貢獻。
馬萬祺先生與羅柏心女士於一九四三年結婚,婚後同心同德從事澳門的愛國事業,並熱心支持澳門教育事業。馬萬祺先生曾任澳門大學前身澳門東亞大學校董會主席,為本校培育英才傾注了心血。
澳門大學為感謝及表彰馬先生伉儷,在將第九所書院冠名為“馬萬祺羅柏心書院”的同時,竪立馬萬祺羅柏心青銅雕像,以資紀念。該銅像由著名雕塑家曹崇恩教授於一九九一年鑄造,現存放於書院大堂。
Recreation of Wonderland 再造美境
To correspond with the development plan and strategy of University of Macau, Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (W33) entered the expansion stage. Under the leadership of College Master Prof. YANG Liu, all staff and students moved to W31 to work and study. This picture shows the appearance of Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College after the one-year expansion phase. The new W33 has added two floors, which can accommodate more students to live and study. The whole building has become more majestic.
為配合澳門大學發展規劃及策略,馬萬祺羅柏心書院原址W33進入加層擴建階段,在楊柳院長的領導下,書院全體工作人員和學生搬遷到W31辦公與學習。馬萬祺羅柏心書院經過為期一年的加層擴建後的大樓新W33增加了兩層,可以容納更多學生居住和學習,整棟建築物變得更加雄偉了。
