In the afternoon of October 28, 2021, more than 100 1st year students from MLC attended a unique lecture – the Master’s first lecture. The speaker was Prof. Yang Liu, the new Master of the MLC.
Prof. Yang told the love story of Mr. Ma Man Kei and his wife Mrs. Lo Pak Sam and conveyed the concept of great love in the college to the students. At the same time, Prof. Yang introduced the organizational structure of the college to the students. The Resident Fellows, administrative staff, the representatives of the House Association, and the representatives of Residents Tutors also met with the students one by one. Subsequently, with her rich teaching experience, Prof. Yang introduced the 4-in-1 college education model and seven competencies to the students and wished the students good luck and success in their university life. First, Prof. Yang hopes that the students can design and plan their own lives and spend their time to the fullest and wisely; Second, she encouraged the students to cultivate their personality; Third, she encouraged them to be persistent in the face of challenges and have a tenacious character; Fourth, she encouraged the students to cultivate their artistic sense and taste. Zhao Zhilong and Queenie Chan, recited the Chinese and Portuguese version of Sendo eu um aprendiz by Bráulio Bessa to the students. Prof. Yang quoted and spoke highly of their performances and brought a round of applause from the audience.
In the end, Resident Fellows of MLC and Mr. Feng Kehao, the Vice President of MLC HA, introduced the large-scale activities and lectures of the College, the rules and regulations of the College and activities of the College to the students. The Master’s First Lecture aims to introduce the University of Macau college system to the new students and prepare them for their university life. The lecture ended successfully with students singing and applause together.
