On January 24, 2024, MLC held a workshop titled “Practicing ‘One Country, Two Systems’: Exploring the Pillars of Macau’s Social Order,” which attracted students from various colleges to participate. The workshop was divided into six sessions, including vivid presentations by five two-law ambassadors who promote the two legal systems and a prize-winning Q&A session.
During the explanatory session, Chen Ziyi first introduced “the characteristics of our country’s Constitution,” detailing the supremacy, stability, principles, and political nature of Constitution, and delved into the three modes of change within Constitution. Following the national-level discussion, the workshop focused on the Macau region, with Zhang Jinpei explaining “the Basic Law and ‘One Country, Two Systems’”, Chen Huiying introducing “the political organizational structure of the Macau Special Administrative Region,” and Zhang Xinyuan elucidating “the administrative, judicial, and legislative powers of the Special Administrative Region.” Lastly, Duan Jiatong gave a lively interpretation of “national security,” covering the elements of the concept of national security and the five pairs of relationships in the overall national security view. The five ambassadors’ reports were rich in content, fully demonstrating their professional knowledge and enthusiasm.
In the exciting quick-response segment, students eagerly answered questions, demonstrating their understanding and mastery of the knowledge of the two legal systems. This segment was judged by Fan Xiaoding, MLC’s RT and PhD student in law. The students excellently answered 25 questions, with each question being correctly answered by the participants, who received small gifts from the college as rewards. This wonderful workshop provided a platform for learning and exchange, not only deepening the understanding of our country’s Constitution, Macau’s Basic Law, and “One Country, Two Systems,” but also enhancing the understanding of Macau’s social order.
