Working Experience
Professor YANG Liu has been working in some leading universities for over 35 years. Before she came to the University of Macau, she was a tenured full professor of English and PhD supervisor in the School of Foreign Studies and the Academic Committee member of the Institute for International Students in Nanjing University. She was the Academic Leader of Translation Discipline in the School of Foreign Studies of Nanjing University, which hosts the national key discipline of Foreign Languages and Literatures. She had ever worked as the Deputy Director of the Administrative Office of the Confucius Institutes, Nanjing University. She had also worked as the Dean of the Translation Department in two universities in Hunan Province.
Teaching Areas
Professor YANG loves teaching and students, and has taught many courses including Translation and Cross-disciplinary Studies, Chinese Culture and World Culture, and Advanced English Writing. The teaching evaluation results of her courses have been excellent for more than ten years. Because of her contributions, she has won the Excellent Teacher Award and the Excellent Thesis Supervisor Award for many times.
Academic Achievements
Professor YANG focuses her research on Aesthetic and Philosophical Translation Studies, Culture Studies, Comparative Literature, International Education and Collegiate Education. She has published more than 100 academic papers, monographs, translated books and other articles in the key international and national journals, and publishing presses. Her representative monographs include The Reception History of the 20th Century Western Translation Theories in China, On the Aesthetic Modernity of Lin Yutang’s Translation, Poetics of Translation and Ideology, The Reception and Translation of Dao De Jing in the Multi-Cultural Context, Theoretical Translation Studies: A Cultural Perspective. She has chaired and participated in fifteen research projects, including the national and provincial funds of social sciences. She has won over twenty national or provincial prizes for academic research, teaching and leadership.
