On 10 December 2020, eighteen members of Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College (MLC) led by Resident Fellow, Prof. Venus Viana, visited the Creative Fashion and Image Department (CFI) of the Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center (CPTTM). The CPTTM is a local non-profit organization that contributes to Macau’s industrial diversification. The CFI focuses on fostering professional skills of local fashion designers. Every year, the CFI offers various courses to train world-class fashion designers who had participated and won prizes in local and international competitions.

There were three events during our two-hour visit. First, CPTTM staff gave us presentations about CFI, the courses they offer and the competitions they participated in. Second, we observed the showrooms and classrooms, and learned about the equipment that professional designers use and products they have so far designed. Third, our students designed their own cup holders by adding accessories into them.  The visit reminds students that Macau’s potentials are much richer than just gaming and heritage-related tourism industries. It also allows students to understand how design and fashion industry provides one great potential path for their future career opportunities.
