In the refreshing autumn breeze filled with floral aroma, Professor ZHANG Rong, deputy to the NPC and Secretary of the CPC of Xiamen University, led a delegation to visit UMMLC during his visit to University of Macau. The delegation was warmly received by MLC College Master, Prof. YANG Liu and the colleagues of the college.

 

Prof. YANG extended a warm welcome to Prof. ZHANG and the delegation. She introduced the educational vision and mission of the University of Macau’s residential college system, the three stages of the college’s historical development, the five measures of college education, the attributes of seven competencies, the Academy of Aesthetic Education, and the classic activities of MLC to the guests. She guided the delegation to visit the college facilities, including the college lobby, offices, multi-function rooms, D3 Café, MLC Encyclopedia Library, fitness rooms, and Evergreen Restaurant and took a group photo with Prof. ZHANG in the beautiful courtyard of the college. Prof. YANG also presented Prof. ZHANG with a souvenir of the college symbolizing “love the country, love Macao”.

During the visit, Prof. ZHANG enthusiastically viewed the patriotic poetry exhibition of Mr. Ma Man Kei and praised his love for the country and Macau. He inquired about the overall situation of the University of Macau’s residential college, the current situation of students’ college selection, the source and distribution of college students, and their living environment. He entered the fellow’s office and had a friendly chat with students who were receiving counseling, inquiring about their living conditions and learning experiences. The students expressed great satisfaction with their college life and studying at the University of Macau. Prof. ZHANG also interacted warmly with the exchange student from Xiamen University, who is residing in the college, inquiring about her growth and learning experiences in Macau, as well as the dietary and accommodation situations. The students expressed great satisfaction and happiness. Prof. ZHANG encouraged the students to cherish the opportunities, study hard, and strive to achieve success and contribute to the school and society in the future.

Prof. ZHANG sincerely expressed his gratitude to Prof YANG and colleagues of the college. He highly praised the uniqueness of the University of Macau’s residential college education and affirmed the important role of holistic education in nurturing and fostering whole person development. He acknowledged the achievements of MLC in education and management, and invited Prof. YANG and MLC colleagues to visit Xiamen University at a suitable time. Prof. ZHANG Rong’s visit inspired the teachers and students of the college. His recognition and encouragement motivated the college colleagues to actively and passionately engage in whole person education. The students were impressed and inspired by Prof. ZHANG’s wisdom, humor and leadership style and regarded the communication had extended their horizon and benefited them a lot.
